"It's mere propaganda"- Nigerian Army reacts to new videos of Boko Haram commanders threatening to attack Abuja

The Nigerian Army has reacted to the newly released video of Boko Haram terrorists threatening to blow up the country's capital, Abuja. In a press statement issued by the Nigerian Army spokesman, he stated categorically that the recent Boko Haram Video released is  mere propaganda. The statement reads; The attention of Nigerian Army has been drawn to two video clips released by one of the released Boko Haram terrorists in exchange for the abducted Chibok school girls.  In the first clip the terrorist, among other things, made boastful and spurious allegations, while the second clip was about alleged indoctrination of some of the abducted Chibok school girls in captivity.  We wish to state that the terrorist has lost touch with current realities.

Breaking News: Ebola Epidemic Declared In Congo 3 Confirmed Dead

he case was confirmed from tests on nine people who came down with a hemorrhagic fever in Bas-Uele province in the northeast of the country on or after April 22, the statement said – adding that at least two of the sufferers are known to have died. Ebola – aka Ebola hemorrhagic fever – is a rare and deadly disease caused by an infection. It can cause disease in humans and nonhuman primates like monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees. It comes after a huge outbreak of the disease across west Africa – including the Congo – in 2014/15 which left thousands dead. Numerous British aid agencies were involved in caring for the sick and families of the dead victims struck down by the killer disease. They included British Ebola nurse Pauline Cafferkey who MirrorOnline reported last month was returning to Sierra Leone for the first time since contracting the killer virus there.

25 people killed in a suicide bombing targeting deputy senate leader in Pakistan

The deputy leader of Pakistan's Senate escaped an assassination attempt this afternoon when a suicide bomber targeted his convoy in the country's southwestern Baluchistan province, killing 25 people and wounding dozens more. ISIS took responsibility for the attack on its official Amaq News Agency.  According to a local government official, Munir Raisani, the bomber struck soon after the senator, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri's convoy left a madrassa, an Islamic religious school, in the town of Mastung, not far from the provincial capital of Quetta.

Nollywood actor Segun Arinze’s 20-year-old daughter Renny lashed out at him after he wished her a happy birthday online earlier today. Renny, who is his daughter with actress Anne Njemanze, his first wife, was apparently angry that he posted his message on Instagram instead of calling her on the phone. 10yr old girl fought off a 9ft alligator by sticking her fingers in its nostrils

10-year-old Juliana Ossa is lucky to be alive, she was attacked by a 9ft alligator at Mary Jane Lake but fought the beast off and escaped with injuries to her leg. On a trip to Orland theme park, Gatorland, she picked up tips on what to do in case of an alligator attack and those lessons ultimately saved her life. She stuck her fingers in the alligator's nostrils and jammed its respiration forcing it to release its jaws in order to breath from the mouth. She said: 

Court orders DSS, SSS to produce Ubah in court within 72 hours

Justice M.B. Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday gave an order mandating the Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) and the Department of State Security to produce Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah before the court within 72 hours of the court order.  The court also asked that the agencies in the alternative should show cause why he should not be released unconditionally or upon such conditions as the court may see fit in the circumstance. Justice Idris adjourned the matter delineated FHC/L/CS/644/2017 till May 12, 2017 for mention.

Photos: Over 100 injured in gas explosion in Ghana

Over 100 people are being treated at Takoradi Port Hospital following two gas explosions that went off Tuesday morning at the Sekondi-Takoradi road, the oil hub of Ghana. According to Citi FM, eyewitnesses and officials from the Ghana National Fire Service, said the explosion occurred “at about 7: 10 Tuesday morning when a gas tanker discharging gas to another tanker exploded before the second went off around the Total filling station on the main Takoradi Highway.

Some abducted Chibok girls refused to be freed -Negotiator

Zannah Mustapha, a lawyer and negotiator, who was part of the team that facilitated the release of 82 of the Chibok schoolgirls abducted three years ago by Boko Haram,  on Monday , told Thomson Reuters Foundation that some of the girls refused to be freed. Mustapha,57, said some of the abducted girls refused to go home, fuelling fears that they have been radicalized by the jihadists, and may feel afraid, ashamed or even too powerful to return to their old lives. “Some girls refused to return … I have never talked to one of the girls about their reasons," said Mr. Mustapha, who acted as an intermediary in the latest negotiations between the Nigerian government and Boko Haram.

'Beware of scammers, we are not recruiting' - NNPC warns Nigerians

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)  has called on the attention of the general public to beware of any recruitment announcement or invitation for interviews as its organization is not employing at the moment. The warning to the general public comes after fake recruitments scams have been hovering around all social media platforms this year. In a statement by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu,  on Friday , the NNPC said:

Man stabs his 18-year-old lover to death in Bayelsa

An 18-year-old woman has died from wounds sustained when she was stabbed by a 26-year-old man in a hotel room in Yenegoa. The victim, Faith Pius, was rushed to a hospital but died from complications  two days later . The attack on Faith had occurred  on Friday  night. She had been in a guest house located at Biogbolo area in Yenegoa, Bayelsa, when she got stabbed by the culprit. She screamed in pain and that attracted the attention of other guests in the guest house but by the time they came to her rescue, her attacker had fled the scene. Faith was rushed to a hospital where she received treatment and her wounds were stitched. However, a day later, she developed complications then died  on Sunday , two days after she was attacked.

You are playing with fire- FFK reacts to allegations of some "cabals" attempting to stop Osinbajo from being acting president

Yesterday there was an uproar in the polity after it was discovered that President Buhari's letter to the senate regarding his medical trip to the UK, did not indicate that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would assume the office of an acting president. Rather the letter said he would be coordinating the activities of government". Senator Mao Ohuabunwa at the senate plenary yesterday, frowned at this, stating that the constitution only recognises an acting president and not someone who coordinates the activities of government in the absence of a president. President Buhari handed over to me- Osinbajo clarifies

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo last night via his twitter handle, addressed the speculations making the rounds that President Buhari did not properly hand over power to him. Responding to a twitter user who asked why President Buhari did not hand over the affiars of the country to him, Osinbajo said President Buhari did transfer power to him and that he had sent a letter to the  Senate in compliance with S.145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). That section of the constitution reads:

"God shall exempt me from calamites" corp member writes days to his tragic death

A corp member serving in Gombe state has died after getting involved in a car accident on his way to his home in Jalingo. Rimam Nuhu Kwabche who graduated from Taraba State University where he Studied History and Archaeology, had been hale and hearty just days before his death and was very active on Social media.  What makes Rimam's death even more tragic is the post he shared on Facebook just days before his death, expressing his total reliance on God.

The Ekiti State Police Command has declared a 200 level student of the Department of Theatre and Media, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Miss Adefunke Adewodun missing.  It was gathered that Adefunke arrived her hostel one  Monday  morning, picked some personal effects and left and had not returned since then. Her mother, Mrs Rosaline Adewodun recalled that she saw Adefunke last on Sunday, 23 April 2017 when she left Ondo after the first semester break, noting that efforts to trace her since then had proved fruitless.

Photo: South African Police declares suspected Nigerian drug trafficker wanted

The Hawks in the North West on Tuesday, May 9 declared a Nigerian national wanted on drug related charges. Pedro Chinedu Odoemena, 44, was arrested on December 3, 2009 Pedro for dealing in drugs, racketeering and drug trafficking. On 07 December 2009 he appeared before Randburg Magistrate's Court where he was released on R150 000 bail. The accused appeared at the Palm Ridge High Court several times, however on 24 July 2014 he was meant to attend court but did not show up. The suspect is still on the run and he is suppose to appear again at Johannesburg High Court from 05 to 30 June 2017.
